The pandemic has provided new opportunities for terrorists and many sources are predicting an impending increase in physical attacks next year*. Standard property and commercial policies don’t cover damage caused by acts of terrorism. In the event of an attack, terrorism cover can help with the cost of reinstatement or repair. You don’t need to be directly targeted to be severely affected by the aftermath, since such an attack can cripple a wider area. Your practice could be forced to close if an area is sealed off or utilities become unavailable and without terrorism cover you would be unable to claim for business interruption.
Whilst your insurance can’t prevent acts of terrorism from happening, it can help you to pick up the pieces afterwards. Terrorism insurance can simply be selected as an additional cover extension within your practice insurance policy, negating the need to take out a separate policy.
(Cover excluded in Northern Ireland and Channel Isles)
