The London Vet Show first began in 2009. Since then it has grown to become a popular annual veterinary conference for networking a wide range of services for veterinary professionals.
As previously in 2023, the show will be held at Excel London, located between Canary Wharf and London City Airport, taking place on the 14th and 15th November 2024. As well as being insurance experts, we have learned a lot about the veterinary career track to advise professionals on how they might encounter risks. Not just inside the practice but outside too.
Lloyd & Whyte have attended the event for over 10 years, so we have compiled a list of recommended ways to maximise your time during this year’s London Vet Show 2024. Regardless of your veterinary experience (yes, even students), you’ll benefit from attending.
CPD (Continued Professional Development)
As a veterinary professional and member of an association, you must accrue a certain number of hours annually towards continued professional development. One reason why the London Vet Show has been so popular is because of the amount of CPD training that can be attained during the two-day event. This counts towards your regulated required standard.
Furthermore, this high quality CPD is delivered through a variety of workshops and hosted by renowned veterinary experts and industry leaders who are “handpicked” for their experience, knowledge, and expertise.
As students, you will also benefit greatly from attending during your early career for this development alone, especially if you are looking to specialise.
Lecture Theatres
Following on from the CPD training, a little bit of research before the event on the London Vet Show website, can go a long way. The venue, Excel London, for the show is large and can get busy whilst the event is running. Depending on your speciality, take time to note where, what’s on and who are presenting the lectures in the specific theatres.
Outside of lectures, give yourself time to visit the stands and exhibitions too. This is where Lloyd & Whyte will be situated. Stand number N72.
Insurance
Whether or not you have relevant insurance in place (both inside or outside of your practice), the London Vet Show is a one-stop shop. Risks that can leave you liable to claims can change from year to year. If you’re unsure of what you have in place and whether these risks can affect you, talk to our experienced team to chat through your situation and they can provide bespoke advice.
This is important, regardless of veterinary experience, because Lloyd & Whyte insurance services can provide cover that meets your specific needs. For example, we can cover a range of risks from drugs and animal semen in your practice to the car you drive.
Marketing
No matter your practice size, marketing is a great platform to attract clients and promote your veterinary services. If marketing has been a focus for your practice, there will be exhibitors at the event who will be able to fulfil your needs.
Marketing services can cover a wide range of needs such as social presence to lanyards.
Connecting
Whilst it is worthwhile to research the event, especially for CPD purposes, another tip from us is to simply get involved. The event has a large capacity for both exhibitors and veterinary footfall, which means it is one of the most impactful times to connect with people relevant to the industry.
This can look different for everyone, whether this is catching up with old university friends or understanding your career better.
Lastly, as much as we are attending the event to advise veterinary professionals on their risks, Lloyd & Whyte learn from our clients as much as they might learn from us. We are always eager to engage with our clients and have a two-way dialogue. If there is a potential risk that has come to your attention, the London Vet Show can be a way to get practical insurance advice quickly and in person.
We look forward to seeing you there. See you at stand N72!
